Yesterday, in a brave act of civil disobedience, Tim DeChristopher threw a Monkey Wrench into one of the Bush Administration's parting shots at environmentalist and the American people.
Please ask everyone you know to register their gratitude and support for Tim here or on his statement.

Tim, I was there in the auction that morning, I am a photographer, I was there to bare witness. It was breaking my heart. I happen to photograph you when I turned from photographing the auctioneer and wanted the bidders to see me photographing them make them think about what they were doing. Haven't they ever woken up in pristine land. I am in awe of your bravery. you have put so much on the line. It is time for the rest of us to back you up. I am hoping everyone goes to http:oneutah.org and donates to your legal defense. Be well and Merry Christmas.

BLM bid blame Public Forum Letter Posted: 01/03/2009 06:00:00 PM MST The Bureau of Land Management has no one to blame but itself for unauthorized bidder Tim DeChristopher crashing its oil and gas lease auction ("Bogus bidder had to take a chance," Tribune , Dec. 23). Any credible sale of high-end items limits participation to pre-qualified, registered bidders. The BLM should fix its system rather than try to prosecute DeChristopher, who gets kudos for a creative, fun and obviously effective tactic of civil disobedience. Jim Catano Salt Lake City

Thanks, Tim Public Forum Letter Posted: 01/03/2009 06:00:00 PM MST I thank latter-day monkey-wrencher Tim DeChristopher with all my conservationist heart! ("Bogus bidder had to take a chance," Tribune , Dec. 23). We demonstrated during the Vietnam War in Washington -- and it eventually worked. That spirit of nonviolent activism has faded; now, once again it raises its shining flag. DeChristopher put himself on the line, without any threat of aggression to others, and he made a huge difference. If he faces a court case, he can count on lots of us to support him. Thank you! During a train ride from Denver to Salt Lake City on December 29 I met Tim and heard his story. Tim's courageous action is a most powerful demonstration of what one person can accomplish. This was not an accidental action, Tim was prepared to step forward when the opportunity presented itself. What can we do to support Tim? Send money definitely, if possible. Contact all your friends, environmental organizations, get nationwide and international coverage, get the word out. And - perhaps most important stand up and be counted whenever you can. Thank you Tim, Jan

I just listened to the interview of Tim on KVMR out of California, and he said that they have raised enough money. We are supporting the cause in upstate NY as well. Tim gave a great interview!

Thanks Louis for the good news: we are delighted to hear they have raised the money. I hope Tim will keep us all posted over the next few days and weeks, particularly if he needs more funding. People watching this around the world will be inspired by this including us in the UK.

A Note from Team Tim: While the number of $45,000 was set as a goal, we are still unsure what, if anything, the BLM will accept towards the $1.7 million worth of leases that Tim 'won' on 12/19/08. Please stay tuned for more information as it becomes available!
